T-Boned

I'm convinced that there will always be an adventure around here. If it isn't one thing, it's another. 

This past Sunday was a typical Sunday until we were heading home from having lunch with some friends. All five of us were in our "family car" chatting and having a good time with each other. Then a lady driving a little black car doesn't see the traffic light we are going through. Our light was green, hers was red. SMASH! She creamed the passengers side which is where Makenna and I were riding. She skimmed the front door but slammed Makenna's door pretty good. When we came to a stop all I could hear was Hayden crying and Makenna screaming, "The door hit me! The door hit me!" Without much thought, I jumped out and opened her door and checked on her and pulled Hayden out to calm him down. It was cold and a little bit rainy out. I was worried about my babies. She hadn't been knocked out but it was evident that she was whip lashed and hit the door with her head. After I made sure the kids and Nate were okay, I sat back in the car with them while Nate handled things outside. 

After a couple minutes I realized my neck wasn't feeling so great. It never really feels good. I always have some sort of pain but this was a little more than usual. Long story short, Makenna and I went to the ER in an ambulance to get checked out. A few x-rays and a couple hours later, we were cleared with good health and a prescription for pain (if needed). 

We definitely weren't expecting the day to turn out that way but we're all okay and we all came home together and that's what matters. We're able to drive the car until it gets fixed and that's a plus! I guess at this point, all the sicknesses, accidents and extra car maintenance is making me gain a new perspective. Maybe the load will lessen a little soon. Maybe.

Today was school pictures for the kids. I sure am glad they don't do those in college...
Anyway, Makenna missed her first ever picture day. Why? Because she has some sort of stomach bug. I have never seen so much processed spaghetti in my life. I have also never seen it vomited into a floor vent.

Yeah... Last night was interesting to say the least.

I'm glad we have a shop vac. And I'm happy that Walmart has a Rug Doctor Rental.

Our visit to Chapel Hill was wonderful. I can honestly say it was the best trip I've ever made to that part of the state. Everything about it was great. My visit with Dr. Noble and the director of the Radiologic Science program was good and informative. I have no desire to go anywhere else for anything now. It definitely confirmed that I'm on the right path. I have a bit more work to do before I'm ready to enter the program but I'm well on my way and I have more done that I need to get done. So that's really exciting. I'm ready to move on and pursue this. I know Nate's so excited he can't stand it and he's ready to move 3 weeks ago. I'm not as eager as he is but I'm ready to get this going.
Now I'm off to talk to my sponser about my education plan and get it all approved that way everyone is on the same page. I just have to keep up my good grades and start a new network of friends and professional peers very, very soon. This should be good. Very, very good.

Work work work

These past few weeks have been extremely testing. There have been 7 doctor visits between the 5 of us. We've had 3 different vehicles in the shop and we only own 2. That means the one we borrowed also had something that needed to be fixed. We lost a source of income but God has been faithful to us and given us a good replacement for what was lost. It's been overwhelming and kept me a little unstable. I'm trying my best to move on from that and look forward and press on. MUCH easier said than done.

I'm very much looking forward to our trip to Chapel Hill very soon. All my confirmations are complete except for the hotel. (Note to self. Don't forget the hotel) I'll be happy to get away from here for a couple days and spend some quality time with my husband and check out some things and meet some new people that will be a big influence in my future if God continues to open the doors for me to go to school there soon. Of course Hayden will be going along with us but it will still be a wonderful trip.
I'm trying to stay focused and not lose heart. It's hard sometimes. Well, it's hard often. We can do this though.

I'm so excited I could cry right now!
I have a meeting set up with Dr. Noble for a clinical observation at UNC Hospitals and also to meet with the Division Direction at UNC Chapel Hill's School of Medicine. This is a grueling process but I'm hoping it will be worth it in the long run. I have my written recommendations taken care of. The application is taken care of. I just have to finish the supplement along with the application but I can't complete that until this oberservation and meeting is done. Wow. I'm just flippin excited!

Transferring to a University is definitely what I want to do since I know the next 2 years are paid for in full. The Common Application isn't terribly difficult, just time consuming. The most challenging part is answering the 8 questions for the specific program I have selected. I pretty much have to show my written communication skills are good and answer the questions appropriately. I don't have much of a back up plan that excites me but I do have other options if this doesn't work out right now. UNCA is my back up. There's nothing wrong with that, they just don't have the exact classes I'm looking for.
This waiting stuff is the pits.
